ASB Report 09/01/22
Jenna Skavdahl
Junior Class Administrative Assistant
09/01/22
Position Assessment:
Thus far into the 2022-2023 school year, much has been completed, and still, the juniors have much to do. To begin, we all started the year with Core Camp, which, in my opinion, was a great experience and an excellent way to get the year started right. During Core Camp, the junior class officers decided on two homecoming themes that we wished to use in the case that they were voted in by the student body. These themes were “Candy Land”, in the case that “Apps Brought to Life,” was chosen, and “Party in the USA,” by Miley Cyrus, which was chosen under the overarching theme of “We Got the Beat”. In addition to attending Core Camp over the summer, the junior class officers decided on a class t-shirt design. After many meetings and discussions, we decided on a khaki shirt with large “RHS” letters on the front. We sold t-shirts at Pow Wow and Club Rush, both of which brought in numbers for t-shirts that we are working on ordering as of August 27th, 2022. The purchase order has been started, as well as the procedure form, which is also in progress. After a small mishap with the cash box during shirt sales during the club rush, everything was settled and I was able to assist my class by selling shirts two of three days during the hectic week. Club Rush overall was a huge success, the rally went incredibly smoothly and students were excited about a dress-up day every day of the week. During club rush week, the juniors all assisted in the execution of the rally, including decorating, finding songs, and people to participate to represent the different dress-up days.
Aside from Club-Rush. The junior class officers, including myself, have participated in many training days over the summer, done all the curriculum, completed the journals, and participated in the class discussions.
Standing Committee:
Currently, I am on the Link Crew Committee.
Special Committee:
Over the past few months I have had the opportunity to be in one committee. For the Black Light Rally, I was on the Black Light Committee, in which I stood and watched the ligts so that people did not step on or break them. I also assisted with putting them back and cleaning them, which was expected of all leadership students.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at the time of the meeting:
The mentorship program at Ripon High School is a great addition to the leadership program. This year, my mentor partner is Ava Keast. Over the summer, I saw Ava in a few social settings, and at Core Camp, which helped us bond more than we already were, through going to the same elementary school, mutual friends, and knowing each other for two years of high school together. I got to know Ava better through making the lip-syncing video during core camp, talking to her during meals and activities, and during our free time. During the school year, Ava and I have been able to get to know one another more through the seating chart. When sitting at a table with other mentor partnerships, I have found I get to know everyone, including my mentor a lot better. We also went to lunch at Pizza Plus, which helped us bond and get to know eachother much better. In addition, by reviewing and building our websites, we have been able to exchange design ideas and website information that we can both use to develop our professional portfolios and websites. Throughout the school year, I hope to continue to get to know Ava as a mentor and friend!
Concerns:
One concern I have regarding the class is the amount of work-to-talking ratio. I think that as a class, we struggle with staying on task and getting things done collectively. I have noticed that oftentimes, the library is very loud, which is great, but also gets to be incredibly distracting and becomes a difficult environment to work in.
Positive Comment:
One positive comment goes to Alizeh Ali. She has adapted to being in leadership very well in her first year in the program. Although she was given a lot of responsibility for organizing Link Crew Training days, Freshman Orientation, and different leadership tasks, she persevered and did, and continues to do, incredibly well in her position. She works hard every day for this class and stays dedicated to the junior class and link crew/renaissance. For example, she took responsibility for making the tape for everyone’s phones during the rally, which shows leadership and responsibility, attributes of someone who definitely deserves a positive comment! I am so proud of her and how much promise she shows within the leadership class!
Change:
One change that I would like to see is possibly a seating chart in which specific job sat together. For example, all of the VPs sit together, or admins, so that the grade levels could connect and get to know eachother and their job better.
My Impact:
I have changed the world today by helping take my brother to and from practices he has in the afternoon. Also, I have changed RHS on campus by helping my peers if they need it, and by offering help and advice to the freshmen in the class that I TA for. I offer help, if Mr. Mayfield needs it, and outside of class if they ever have any questions.

Junior Class Administrative Assistant
10/17/22
Position assessment:
As the junior class administrative assistant, I have been very busy, especially through homecoming. To start off September, the junior class had many meetings about homecoming and the designs we wanted to make for the class competitions. I took minutes at all of the meetings as the junior class admin. The officers had meetings with just us and the entire junior leadership class to ensure that the designs were doable, and to make sure everyone had a voice in this process. Meetings were held after school, before school, and on the weekends. I filled out many purchase orders for various homecoming supplies in early September as well. We started work on the homecoming float on September 18, 2022, at 10am. I filled out more paperwork for the junior class, such as more purchase orders as we realized that we needed more supplies. As the Junior class admin, I attended a meeting to reimburse Morty for her out-of-pocket expenses at Home Depot for Styrofoam. Minutes were created for that meeting as well. Despite some conflict, the Junior officers were able to go into homecoming with drive and motivation. I had been a part of the Night Rally dance practices and been at Ava Brocchini’s house to work on the float every day we could. I updated the minutes and completed all of the POs throughout the entire process. I also spoke to Davina about class t-shirts and the process of selling them coming in later weeks. We fixed the class t-shirt situation and got everything sorted out as well. Class t-shirts will be sold the week of October 17-21.
We started Homecoming week with the window decorations. Our “Party in the USA” window was made to look like a stage with a microphone and firework boxes to match our theme. Next up was the Night Rally. The Junior class did not disappoint with spirit, as we were loud and incredibly positive! The dance went well and I am very proud of our class. Wednesday we presented our lemonade stand, which in my opinion was a huge success. The junior lemonade stand was disguised as a firework stand, which we used at lunch to pass out red, white, and blue spirit items to members of the student body. We did this to encourage students to dress up throughout the rest of the week. The juniors got second place in this competition. Thursday was powder puff, and therefore there was not a class competition. Besides the point, however, I had a great time playing powderpuff, and Ava, Kade, and Nate did an amazing job with this event!! After the game, the juniors went back to Ava’s house to make some finishing touches on the float. After a late night, the junior class was ready for the parade! We make the final touches on the structure of the float right before the parade and we were off. Going down Main Street dressed as a founding father next to a white house was definitely an experience to remember. We parked the float and left to get ready for the Homecoming game. In the end, the Junior class got second in the entire week of spirit points, and I am very proud of the Junior class! This was such a fun and stressful week, I am so grateful to get to be a junior class officer for this week of crazy!
Standing Committee:
I am a part of Link Crew, however, we have had no events or jobs in the past weeks.
Special Committee:
I was a part of the publicity committee for homecoming this year. I was responsible for making an announcement form about the parade. I was also responsible for reposting every announcement that the ASB Instagram account posted and reposting all of the posts that came through, per the request of Katie Rhodes.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at the time of the Meeting:
Ava and I have gotten to know each other quite well. Throughout homecoming, although it was busy, Ava and I worked together on building the float and parts of other class competitions. I have seen her leadership shine through throughout the Night Rally dance, by helping with choreography, and by leading the rally honoring the candidates. She did an amazing job and I am so happy for her. We support each other by discussing the class assignments. I am so happy to know that I always have someone I can turn to when things get tricky or we need clarification. I think I have helped her become more organized throughout homecoming and she has helped me by including me in the Night Rally dance. I am happy to be able to have a mentor/mentoree like Ava!
Concerns:
One concern that I have at this time is the ideas and misconceptions of certain happenings. I find it disappointing that people seem to be concerned about issues that they do not know about. I believe that this could be changed by focusing more on ourselves and our jobs than worrying about other people who we do not need to be worried about.
Positive comment:
Ava Brocchini has been such an amazing friend, leader, and help throughout the crazy week of homecoming. Ava was so generous to let the junior class build our float at her house. She dedicated at least 3 weeks to this complicated process and always allowed people to come for many hours to work on the float. In addition to her house, Ava contributed numerous building, structural, and organizational ideas. Ava was so selfless, kind, understanding, and confident in this entire process. If there was one person who I knew I could count on through all of the homecoming, it was Ava. She did an incredible job with powder puff. Her skills have really shone through this year and I see so much passion and potential for her.
Change:
One change that I would like to see would be more open communication throughout members of the class before other people are contacted. I believe that leadership is a family, and we should treat one another like they are family, by not keeping secrets or trying to always get ahead. Members in this class should trust one another enough to speak to one another about things without having to talk to Morty about disagreements or confusions.
My Impact:
I have made an impact on this world by working with other classmates and students from the student body to make sure that clubs are able to be apart of homecoming. Although I could not walk with the Environmental Club, I did my best to support the club by showing up to meetings and contributing to the ideas for their parade entry. I also helped by transporting items, and picking up trash when I could during the time of the parade.

11/14/22
Junior Class Administrative Assistant
Position Assessment:
In my position over the last few weeks, I have been very busy. I have completed all of the purchase orders for WinterFest and Warm and Fuzzy week. We ordered a PLETHORA of supplies, and I created lists of everything that we need for these events so that ordering would be more organized and efficient. I also ordered many of these supplies and kept track of what had been ordered and come in as packages continued to come to the office. I contributed many ideas and helped work with the other officers to make the cart design, window, paper bleachers, and all other events for Winterfest. I took notes at the meetings we had, and they have been forwarded to Morty as soon as they were created.
For Dude Be Nice, I made POs and ordered club gifts. In one case, one of the Purchase orders I made was used because a different one was not made. This was okay, I spent a day sorting the paperwork out, but I am grateful for Davina. Finally, for Dude Be Nice, I helped by taking pictures at the booth one day at lunch and by writing letters and making cards for Miss Van Vuren. I have been very busy recently, and I have been able to get so much work done in the past weeks.
**All other work that does not directly connect to being an admin will be referenced and explained in the following sections.
Dude Be Nice Work (Individual and/or Group):
(Majority mentioned in Position Assessment) I helped to write cards and deliver them during the rally. I helped the other officers to decorate the gym and get everything ready for the big reveal. I ordered all of the supplies and gifts and helped to finalize everything for the clubs to participate in this event. As a group, the Junior officers worked very hard to make sure that this event ran smoothly and was an eventful week for the student body. We worked to organize different ways to give back to the student body and celebrate gratitude and kindness on campus. Finally, I helped by interviewing students across campus for the gratitude video for Miss. Van Vuren. It was so fulfilling to be able to let students express their gratitude for her! This was a great success.
Winterfest (classes):
Winterfest, over the last two weeks, has been completely planned by the Junior Class. For this event, I was able to turn in and order all of the supplies needed for this event, I made lists of all the supplies and ordered them. They have all arrived as of 11/14/22, other than one minor part that was ordered on 11/14/22. I am incredibly happy with our timeliness and organization moving into Winterfest. We are much more prepared now for this event. Each day of the first work week was dedicated to an event. For example, the cart design was established Monday, Window Tuesday, the Bleachers Wednesday, etc.. etc. We held a junior meeting to inform the class about what the ideas would be and to collect other ideas that we could take into consideration before ordering supplies. Minutes have been shared with Morty.
Cart Status - Emily, Jenna, Gia, Kylee Machado
Cart Status, everything for the cart has been ordered and it has also all been delivered. We are very happy with the efficiency of amazon and the way that everything has been done in a timely manner. In addition, we emailed and called Home Depot about the cart, but we did not have success reaching them the first few times. Calling again on 11/15/22. We have a set idea and we hope that it will be successful. We have begun to organize days to build and we plan to get this cart done sooner rather than later to avoid stress as we approach Winterfest.
Warm & Fuzzy (classes):
For the juniors, Warm and Fuzzy tree decorating supplies have been put into a PO, which has been ordered and we are waiting on arrival. We also have designed our pillar and are not looking to spend much money at all, which is something to be celebrated.
I am a team leader for the door decorations and I have been working on dimensions and organizing the bows, but waiting on the teachers that each group has.
Standing Committee - Status of Class shirts - Reports from Emily, Jenna, Gia, Kiely Mundy
Class t-shirts for the juniors have been a bit of a mess, but we sold them every day for one week and sold a few. We have done inventory and sold some. We still have a lot of T-shirts to sell so we are hoping for the possibility of another time to sell much further in the future, details have not been discussed yet.
Special Committee - Community Service Update:
I have signed up to participate in community service for Colony Oak on Friday, November 18th from 10am-12pm.
Special Committee - CASL - all team leaders will report (10 total) on the status of their report:
Ours has been completed and is ready to submit. I worked with Emme, Sofia, and Ewan to organize ideas and we all collaborated to finalize the document and put it into essay format that discussed the courageous moments and ways that Ripon High Leadership deals with courage.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment goes to the Junior officer team for being on top of their game. We have been ahead of events and on top of POs, ordering, and designing everything for upcoming events. I have bee able to take even more pride in our team as we continue to improve and make ourselves better each and every day. Another positive comment goes out to everyone for their help during Dude. Be Nice week, it was so great to see everyone’s support, and everyone’s help was greatly appreciated.
Change you would like to see:
One change that I would like to see in this class would be more bonding between different groups and people. I think that by doing different binding activities when we have time could benefit all groups in this class and help to create more connections between different grade levels.
Concern you would like to share:
One concern I have is about people usig work days to get work done. I understand working at our tables and talking here and there, that is to be expected, however when people are literally “out of control,” it seems and not even making it LOOK like they are working, it gets to be very distracting and frustrating to the people who are genuinely trying to get things done with the classtime we have.
Your Impact - Answer this question: Why are you here? In the program? If you are not making a difference and giving your fullest potential, then what are you doing?
I am here because I want to make a difference in school culture and be apart of something bigger than myself. Leadership is a group that allows me to express myself through my classmates, projects, events, and assignments. It is my purpose to contine to do my best for our class and Ripon High as a whole. I am doing my best to improve every day and make sure that my skills in leadership, communication, and paperwork continue to be the best representation of me that I can give. I highly value this class and everything it does for me personally, but also the student and staff body as a whole.

Junior Class Administrative Assistant
December 15, 2022,
Position Assessment:
From the last time we reported, I have had a nice job as junior class administrative assistant. I helped to contribute ideas for the class Christmas tree and I turned in all of the purchase orders. Once orders were made and the supplies came in, I worked to separate the goods and organize our class spirit box. Other than that, I have not had too much to do other than taking minutes, procedure form help, and wrote all of the thank you cards for our Holiday Tree. We began to look forward to prom and started to work with Mr. Mayfield about the different parts that goes into planning prom.
Standing Committee:
I am not apart of a standing committee at this time.
Special Committee:
I was a team leader of the door decorating committee which took place on December 4th at 2pm. Our team was very efficient and barely had issues. I am proud of our group and the spirit we were able to bring to our school as break comes closer. Additionally, I was apart of the "Origins" project, which was a community service project for the Vice Presidents that was centered around giving back to our elementary schools. This was very fun and it left a positive mark on our communities.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion:
Ava and I have been able to work together quite a bit, thanks to work days and days that we sit together for mentor seating. Ava and I actually get along quite nicely and we agree on many things relating to school and leadership. As finals approach, we have worked to get assignments done together and I have helped to try to study with her in spanish. I have enjoyed working together with her and getting to know her better throughout the year.
Concerns:
One concern I have is the amount of pressure that is being put on students during finals week. For many people, these tests can be very challenging and students are being assigned a ton of work before this stressful time. I don’t know why, but teachers are trying to cram in assignments and busy work before the week of finals. Finals can be stressful as students put a lot of pressure on themselves and their results during this stressful time.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment goes to Dillan Saltsman! I am so happy for him in his new commitment to Stanford University! This is such a large accomplishment and I am so happy that he has been able to reach his goals. He is so talented and such a deserving person! Go Dillan!!
Change:
One change that I would like to see would be more emphasis on the book studies. When we have time, I really enjoy learning about my peer’s perspectives and being able to reflect on my personal beliefs and opinions. I think that book studies are a fun way to be able to express ourselves and try to discover ourselves as well. Since I have been doing them every year of high school, I think it would be a good goal to try to finish the book by the time I am a senior:).
My impact:
Recently, I have been able to have a positive impact on my peers and surrounding by helping people study and prepare for their finals which are quickly approaching. I am looking forward to helping people even more tonight at the second night of study buddy night!

Junior Class Administrative Assistant
01/30/23
Position assessment:
Throughout Winterfest, I had been very busy. I sent in all the POs and worked with Kylee, Lucia, and Devin to organize a lot of the actual events and specific projects. We worked over Winter Break to get the big poster set up, and Lucia and I made the sketches. Then, we met with the rest of the Juniors at my house to work on Winterfest again. We met a bunch over the course of 3 weeks, although we did get 2nd and didn’t do as well as I’d hoped we would have on some of the class competitions, I am proud of how hard everybody worked, and I am grateful to have people to work with. I also participated in the Night Rally along with other members of the Junior Class. We worked hard and practiced a lot, so I was happy to see the enthusiasm from the rest of the grades throughout the rally. Other than that, I spent the morning of Friday, January 20th setting up the bleacher poster. This was a successful event, and very labor intensive as well as a daunting task. The next project we have been working on is Prom, we have had one meeting with Mr. Mayfield about the entire process. We are in contact with the organizer and decorator, we are looking for dates to meet with her and get the decorations all set before we move forward with planning. Mr. Mayfield is very experienced with this event, so we are very fortunate to have him working with us. I am just working on class assignments for the time being, looking forward to elections and other events outside of leadership, but I am grateful that Winterfest is over and we can begin looking to the rest of the spring semester.
Standing Committee:
I am the leader of the Valentine’s Day Hearts project. I am responsible for the organization of specific teams and the organization of the project as a whole. I have sorted all of the papers into grade levels and made the teams who are in charge of delegating the hearts to their team members. I also added a component to this project, in which specified hearts will be added to the doors of each teacher. I think that this will be a great way to spread spirit and appreciation for both staff and students.
Special Committee:
I served on the “bleacher committee”, which took place Friday, January 20th in the North Gym. Members of this committee stayed from the 0-3rd period working on taping, cutting, and fixing the giant bleacher posters for the rally that was later the same day. This took a really long time, but it did look great when it was completed.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at the time of Meeting:
Having Kade as a mentor has been great. I have been able to learn a lot and talk with him about his plans for the future. He recently got accepted to San Diego State University, which was one of the schools he was interested in going to. We went to lunch on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in the cafeteria. We discussed leadership next year, senior year and college in the future! I enjoyed getting to know him this month.
Concern:
One concern I have for the class is that people have been “checking-out”. This new semester has proved to be challenging. Some people in the class have been feeling unmotivated, therefore, almost seeing leadership as a habit, rather than something that should be prioritized. I think that we have to try to avoid this mindset because it affects the classes, commissioners, and overall health of this class and program. Although it may seem like the end is near, we still have many, many events to go and 4 more months to give out best efforts into.
Positive comment:
One positive comment goes out to everyone who has done their speeches or elder projects recently! Every presentation we have had so far has been great and I am so proud of everyone who presented. The speeches this year are very creative and interesting, so great job! Another positive comment I think should be recognized is from Makenzie. She has worked so hard all year and she is so positive. For example, she had to MC a rally that she only had about 1 day to prepare for. She wears so many hats and is involved in so much while working hard and making everything look effortless, she is inspiring.
Change:
One change I would like to see would be more class debriefs of events and reviews of everything that happened or is going to happen in the next weeks. I think that if we have maybe weekly check-ins for the upcoming semester, even though they can be short, I think that they will help the class be more cohesive and on the same page moving forward.
My Impact:
I have changed the world by trying my best to look beyond myself. Oftentimes, I have found that I try to do things for myself, but I have been trying to look beyond myself and give back or be more supportive of other people. For example, I have been practicing listening to others more and talking to people at the track, even people I do not know very well. I am trying to be positive and somebody people are happy to be around.

Leadership
1. What committee(s) have you been placed on, explain them, what is your role?
I have been placed as the lead on the Gift to Students Project. I am in charge of the organization and making sure that the events during this week run smoothly and go according to plan. We are in charge of the End of the Year Dance, the lunchtime activity, and all of the paperwork and information regarding these events. We are working on getting a food truck for the dance and involving the clubs as well. In my position, I also facilitate discussions about the different ideas we had regarding the events, decorations, and paperwork for this event. As lead for this project, I delegated the different jobs for this week to people in the class who wanted to help.
2. What did you contribute during the week to the committee work and presentation for next week?
During the week of the challenge in which Morty was gone, I contributed paperwork toward the dance, I fixed cooperation with Gracie and Ava for the snow cone and popcorn machines, made a list of all the shifts for the table at the dance, contributed ideas for the lunchtime activity, and kept the paperwork and all the items we are planning on purchasing organized both online and in a folder, given by Mak.
3. What will you be in charge of the week of the challenge?
For the week of the challenge, I will be responsible for the collection of paperwork for the gift to students project. Additionally, I will be responsible for for asking for the popcorn and snow cone machines, organizing the pick up and drop off of the machines, doing the dance paperwork, making shifts to man the snow cone and popcorn machines, ordering the handout items for the student body, and organizing and coming up with the lunch time activity, prizes, and budget for the said events as well.
4. What are some pros that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items?
Some pros that I saw during this week while planning and executing items were that many people were on task and focus. As far as my group goes, everyone got along and was able to agree on all decisions. We all discussed really well and everyone went right to work when it was time to work. People in my group got their paperwork done in the beginning of the week so we could get more hands-on work done later in the week. My group was focused and worked really well together which I am grateful for! As a class, from what I heard, there was very little complaining about all of the work and everyone was productive during the class periods.
5. What are some cons that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items?
Some cons I saw while working is that some students would be talking the whole class period or just not being on task during work time. It seems like the challenge wasn’t a priority for a few students of the class. Another con is that some people were not applying themselves and working as hard as they could. For example, people would do one thing and then just assume that they’re done or not sign up for other committees that would need help at that time.
6. What will you be speaking about in the formal presentation?
I will be speaking about the decorations and the whole week of events for the gift to students. We will be decorating the dance in a carnival fashion and using decorations like popcorn buckets, flags, and other table cloths to make sure that the dance is fully decorated. Also, we will be having a photo booth with balloons and other decorations that fit the theme as well. Finally, to help people dress up, we will be giving out different bracelets, glasses, and necklaces to help kickoff summer and enjoy the carnival!
7. What is your overall opinion of the event idea?
I think that this event is a good idea. I think that it is a lot, but it is needed to keep students in leadership from checking out before the school year ends. Since most of our biggest events are in the first semester or near the beginning of the second semester, this event helps challenge leaderhsip students and gives people a chance to show they will still work hard for this program even though school is nearly out. By having a week to plan this event when Morty is gone, it gives students an opportunity to show that we can be prepared and ready to showcase the skills we have learned regarding events throughout the year leading up to this point.
One thing I might change during this week would be maybe one of the other assignments during this week. I understand that validation and other assignments are important, I think that maybe some are a lot of added stress during this short time. Possibly removing one assignment or giving it a different week to do would be more beneficial so students could focus more directly on the challenge and everything there is to do that week.
8. Do you believe this class will be successful in planning and executing this event?
I think that this class, without jinxing it, will hopefully be successful in the planning and executing this event. I think that we are prepared for this demand, and if it really comes down to it, we will be able to handle the pressure. Some people will do more than others and some will not do much work. This is the way thatis goes, but at the end of the day, this event will be done, and with the right people working together, it will be done well. I think that the planning has been great, thanks to Makenzie, and the executing comes with good planning, so we are in a good position to succeed as of now.
9. What should be done to peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs?
I think that peers in this class who do not do what they are responsible for should be marked on their evals and they should get a lower grade than everyone else for this event. This may be harsh, but they need to understand that their lack of work caused more stress and more work for everyone else, therefore their grade can’t be the same as everyone elses. This decision should be made by Makenzie and the Leads because they were able to first handedly see what people were and were not doing.
10. What is your favorite aspect of this event? What are you most excited for?
This may be biased because I am lead on this project, but I am most excited for the dance. It is my favorite because I think that with the addition of tacos, carnival games and clubs, and other activities, this dance is shaping up to be a great event for everyone. I am looking forward to having this dance happen and have everyone be excited for summer at that point! The decorations look great so far and everything else seems to be falling into place luckily! I am also excited for the teacher letters. I think that the teachers will really enjoy this aspect of the challenge and it gives students a chance to thank their teachers for everything they do, which many people do not get the opportunity to do this very often. I am looking forward to the entire week though.

ASB Report February
Jenna Skavdahl
Junior Class Administrative Assistant
February
Position assessment:
As Junior class admin, this last month has been pretty relaxed. We had a meeting with Mr. Mayfield regarding prom, which went well. We made plans to meet with the decorator and see the venue for the event. We have started to create instagram accounts for people’s prom dresses and promposals. Elections occurred too and I am very excited to have been chosen as next year’s ASB president. I filled out paperwork for the CASL trip in April, I have emailed next year’s class with important information regarding the clothing for next year and different feedback information, and finally I contacted Frances Taylor from Stitch by Design about ordering polos and I have create the crewneck designs I will work on ordering when we have the incoming freshmen information too. Coming up the entire class has the Challenge which we will be finding out more about on Monday, February 17, 2023.
Standing Committee:
I have been a part of Link Crew. We had an 8th grade welcome day, which went really well. I was a team leader and we were able to talk to our group about their worries and everything about high school. I am looking forward to the next step.
Special Committee:
I was the leader of the Valentine’s Hearts Appreciation Project. I think that this project went really well and showed appreciation for the staff and student body. Everything has been completed as of right now for this project, and it went smoothly. The procedure form was completed also. The hearts were divided to each class publicity officer and then turned into me and organized. The hearts were hung up on February 14, 2023 at 7 am. I am also a part of the college reveal committee, but as I know, nothing has been done because we have some time before this event.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting:
Kade and I have been getting along great for the mentoring program. I have been able to learn a lot from talking to him, especially with him being a senior, planning out next year has been easier with his advice. We had lunch one day in January and discussed all of these topics. He especially helped with my decision to take zero period next year. We discussed the class and the effects this would have on my schedule/senior year. We also talked about our interest in the gym which is something that we have in common. Even though it is a little bit difficult to be mentors with someone so close in age and finding things in regards to leadership can be hard, I am grateful to have Kade as a mentor because of everything that we have in common and the advice I am still able to get from him.
Concerns:
One concern I have is that this spring is going to be busy, and people might not understand this importance of working when we can because very quickly, this semester will turn chaotic and it is better to get work done early before the storm ensues. We need to be more prepared and organized with everything that is yet to come.
Positive comment:
I think that the entire Link Crew team deserves this positive comment. They did a great job with 8th grade day. I know how stressful and tiring this event can be, but they did an amazing job. They handled the demands with patience and made it look easy! Great job Link Crew! Another positive comment should go to all of the publicity officers for the hearts project. They all were so helpful throughout this project and it couldn’t have been done without them and their organization. I really appreciated their hard work!
Change:
One change that I would like to see would be possibly more community involvement from the leadership program. I think that having more involvement with the community would make fundraising, and other interactions easier. For example, we could have a float in the Almond Blossom Parade that celebrates ASB and shows the City of Ripon that Leadership is active in our community, as FFA and Band do.
My Impact:
This past month, I have been able to change the world by organizing a fundraiser for Sacred Heart Club. I have been the Community Outreach Coordinator for this club and I have been able to help send out $700 to the organization called “Save the Children”. This organization helps children in less developed countries get nutrients and supplies they need to survive. I am very happy we chose this organization because it makes a notable difference in childrens’ lives. Doing this is a good way that I can help kids who will grow up in very different situations than I ever had to.

ASB Report April and May
Jenna Skavdahl
Junior Class Administrative Assistant
05/05/23
Position assessment:
These past two months have been insanely busy with Prom. Since the last report, we visited the prom venue, figured out the DJ and the playlist for the dance, and finalized all of the details for the event. I was responsible for the paperwork, but I also helped the rest of the officer team with their part. I made a few social media posts, stepped up if needed, and made sure that everything was running smoothly with the DJ about the music. This officer team makes sure to always step in if any of us need anything during this stressful time. As a group, we discussed the procedure form which has been worked on since March. I have completed all of my parts at this time as well. The weeks leading up to prom were spent with Mr. Mayfield. We had more meetings, weekly (all minutes shared with Morty), and discussed ticket sales. Luckily for ticket sales, we had the help of Davina who took credit in her office, Velasco, and Taa to help with so many people wanting to buy tickets. By the end of ticket sales, we sold over 350 tickets to prom. Also in the weeks prior to prom, we saw the venue and tasted the food that would be served at prom. On the day of prom, Saturday 29, 2023, we visited the venue after Love Ripon and loved what we saw! Jennifer, the decorator, and her team did an amazing job decorating and we love the colors and execution of the theme! Overall prom proved to be successful, the only downside was the mosquitoes that were out of their nests because of the aerial spray the owners did. There was bug spray to combat this though. Other than that, there was very little that went wrong.
As for my future job position, I have been busy preparing for next year. I sent out a Google form, organized the clothing for next year, ordered the journals and book study books, and decided which freshmen would be in the program next year. I had a great time working with the other members of the board. I have also enjoyed working with Morty on all things deadlines, next year, and supplies. I also attended CADA with the rest of the class and I attended CASL with Alizeh from the 15-17 of April. This was a great experience and I loved being able to represent Ripon High and accept the award on behalf of Makenzie.
Standing Committee:
I am now a part of the Balloon Crew! Yay! My first project will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023, for College Reveal Night! I am excited to be a part of this committee.
I am also a member of the link crew, these last few months we attended that CADA conference.
Special Committee:
I was on the Tribe Award Committee. To help, I assisted in the creation of a balloon arch, setting up chairs, and cleaning/setting up the bleachers. I also came during the event, cried, and helped clean up the chairs at the end.
Also, for the end-of-the-year dance, I called Savemart, established the water donation, and I have been trying to find a date to go to Savemart with Sofia to get perishable supplies for the dance on May 19, 2023.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at Time of Meeting:
Kade and I are getting along well. We know we have each other for help if we need it, but luckily we are pretty independent and have been able to manage everything. We sit together during the class periods the Mentor is the seating.
Concerns:
One concern I have is about next year’s class and deadlines. So many people are not turning in their paperwork, communicating, or working to become prepared. This will be our first lesson to teach at training.
Positive comment:
A positive comment goes to next year’s freshmen for turning in everything on time! Another positive comment goes out to all of the committee leads during this stressful time, shoutout to them! Finally, one last positive comment goes out to all the seniors for getting into their colleges, working hard, and focusing on their futures. They are all inspiring in their own ways!
Change:
One change I would like to make would be a change in the day of the banquet to a Monday next year, if possible, to avoid interfering with the track as it has interfered for the last few years unfortunately.
My Impact:
I have been working to connect with the student body and do my best as next year’s ASB president to make a difference in people’s lives. I have been working with others and talking a lot to the other members of ASB to organize next year and get everything prepared. I have been discovering a lot about myself in order to better support the class next year and lead the class in a positive way.
