About the Author
Jenna thinks that the quote, "It is not good enough to have a good mind; the important part is to use it well," by Rene Descartes is an impactful, powerful quote because it helps emphasize how a healthy mindset can benefit our lives. By having a healthy, strong mind, people are already one step closer to improving themselves and their lives. The change that many people look for within the world can often come from within people's own minds when they use perspective and mindset to their advantages.

Jenna Skavdahl is a junior at Ripon high school in Ripon, California. Jenna enjoys being an involved student, while still balancing her friendships, family, and hobbies. Leadership has been one of her passions for the three years she has been in the program at her high school. This year, as her third year in leadership, she will be serving her class as the Junior Class Administrative Assistant. She is incredibly excited to serve her class and take part in all leadership activities. Also at Ripon High, Jenna is involved in many different clubs and activities around campus. She has assumed and earned leadership roles in the Scrubs(pre-med) club, the Environmental Advocacy Club, The Next Chapter Book Club, and the Speech and Debate Club. This year however, she is looking forward to joining a different book club on campus as well as the CSF club. She is also involved in Link Crew, a program that helps assist freshmen in their transition into high school. In addition to clubs, Jenna looks forward to running varsity cross country and track, as she has since her freshman year. Running is one of her favorite activities that she has found great enjoyment from, especially in the last few years. In addition to running, she loves to exercise in different ways. She enjoys walking, weight lifting, hiking, and many other activities. For this year, Jenna hopes to maintain a high GPA and manage her junior year the best she can. She is taking rigorous classes and aims to always do her best in these classes. Out of all of her classes, she is looking forward to her AP US History class, because she shares her liking of history with her dad. With the future quickly approaching, Jenna is still undecided about what she wants to do and where she wants to go with her life. However, she is looking forward to pushing herself in high school and finding her true calling as she gets closer to going to college. College and further education is very important to Jenna, and she hopes she can attend a university that is out of state and somewhere Jenna can get a new experience and perspective on living. Finally, Jenna hopes that traveling, nature, and her friends and family will always be major parts of her life. She is hoping that hard work, dedication, passion, and fun will make her junior year one of the best!
